5 Ways to Do Away with Negativity

This is a fact: The NEGATIVITY in your life will KILL the POTENTIAL in your life!

If you spend your life focusing on the negative, then your destination cannot be positive. The positive side of negativity is that you will eventually get what your heart desires. Think negative thoughts in your mind... get negative results in life... period.

Negativity kills your potential. It limits the possibilities in your future. It prevents you from experiencing God's best for your life and stymies your thinking.

This is also a fact: Negativity will never be totally absent.

Your success in life will be much determined by how you deal with the negativity you're faced with. So how do you deal with that negativity? Here are 5 suggestions:

1. OWN YOUR NEGATIVITY-

Don't deny the negativity in your life... but deal with it. You can't fix something unless you realize that it's broken, and when it comes to negativity, we're all a little broken.

2. DON'T MAKE EXCUSES-

It's real easy to defend ourselves when we become negative. "I'm just in a bad mood" or "I'm just being a realist..." Don't be defensive, just correct it when it arises.

3. BE CONFIDENT-

Confidence (not over-confidence) promotes positivity. A lack of self confidence promotes negativity. If you don't feel capable of something... then focus on becoming capable. Confidence moves a person from thinking, "I can't" to thinking, "I'll learn how."

4. AVOID MAKING NEGATIVE STATEMENTS OUT OF IGNORANCE-

We want to think that we're experts, but... we're not. Many times, we make blanket negative statements that we know absolutely nothing about. When you're ignorant, keep your mouth shut. Why is it that when we know the least, we speak the most? And when we do speak, we make things up and act like it's the Gospel truth.

5. IDENTIFY THE 'REAL' OBSTACLES-

When we're negative about something, most of the time there's more to the story. When it comes to lifting weights and eating right, I'm negative... Why? The real reason isn't because I don't like these ideas, it's because I'm lazy. Don't use negativity to cover up the real issues in your life.

The more intentional we become in addressing the negativity in our lives, the more successful we'll be in eliminating it and replacing it with positive thinking.
