LIFE CHANGE Going Through Basic Training [ARMY STYLE]

A sharp young man named Jonah handed me a letter after church one Sunday morning.  In the letter he said, "I'm leaving home soon, headed for Basic Training in the Army.  I've never been through anything like this, but I know that if I'm going to survive this transition, I'm going to need some encouragement and support."

He then asked me if I would write him once a week while he was gone.  I told Jonah that it would be my pleasure to encourage him while he was at Basic Training.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined how God would use that Pen-Pal relationship to impact Jonah's life and the lives of the soldiers around him.

One day as I was writing Jonah a letter, a box was delivered to my office.  The box was filled with the advanced copies of my new book, "Life Change."  As I opened the books, something told me to send one of the books to Jonah.

After reading "Life Change," Jonah was asked how the book had challenged him.  This is what he said:

Through this book, Jordan helped me identify the flaws in my life. It made me focus more on my goals; not just in life, but in my Army life. He pushed me to spread the good news to my fellow soldiers in training and lead them to Christ.

He went on to say…

Basic training is a challenge physically and  mentally, but the thing that I struggled with the most was the spiritual part. Jordan Easley wrote me every week and encouraged me with scripture. His book Life Change is exactly what it sounds like. It's a book that makes you realize that through God, you can experience real change in your life.

For me, it was so encouraging to see how this book was already making a difference is someone's life.  It was amazing to hear Jonah talk about how God was working in his life and drawing him closer than ever before.

The cool part about this story is that life change didn't stop with Jonah.  Life Change continued as Jonah began passing the book around to his fellow soldiers.  He said...

I shared Life Change with the people around me and when they first read the title, they told me firmly, "I don't need to change anything." I asked them if they have a relationship with Jesus. They admitted that they didn't and I showed them that's what needed to change. I believe that God wanted me to join the Army, not just for my future or to serve my country, but to help fellow soldiers meet The Lord and grow strong in him. This book gave me the courage to share my faith with my fellow soldiers.

Life Change is a book of hope, and it's not a fabricated hope, it's a supernatural hope offered by a supernatural God.  That's what's so amazing about this story.  I, as an author or pastor or communicator can't give someone the ability to change, but God can.  This book talks about that kind of change and how we can tap into the power of God in order to experience that change in ourselves.

I believe Jonah's life changed while he was at Boot Camp.  He went in as a nervous soldier and he is now a passionate believer that's excited about introducing as many soldiers as he can to the One that saved him and gave him a second chance.

Jonah said,
"Without the help of Jordan and his book "Life Change,"  I wouldn't be as close to The Lord as I am now, and neither would the soldiers around me."

Jonah concluded by saying, "Life Change opens you up to a new beginning; a new hope that you can create a strong relationship with the Lord. It breaks down the book of Mark and teaches you what true sin & repentance looks like. It assisted me through the trials of Basic Training and gave me strength as it reminded me that with God's help, I too can experience life change!"

My prayer is that God would use Life Change in many different ways once it comes out on December 1st, as well as those who read it.  I hope there will be hundreds, if not thousands of  "Jonah's" that will read it, embrace it, step up to it's challenges and pursue Christ more than ever before.

One of my goals is to raise enough funds to purchase 5,000 copies of Life Change, so that we can distribute it to 5,000 young men and women as they enter Basic Training next year.  I'd love to hand cases of this book to our Chaplains and just see how God uses it in our military branches.  If you'd like to be a part of that project, please message Jordan at the Life Change Facebook Page.
